Service is a part of every student experience at Catholic Central, and most Shamrocks will volunteer for more than 100 hours over their four years of high school.
The Campus Ministry Office, led by Mr. Kevin Walters, helps coordinate and track the service hours completed by the students.
"In a normal year, we see a tremendous variety of service opportunities," said Mr. Walters. "This year has been more challenging than most, but our students continue to find ways to help neighbors, grandparents, and others."
Mr. Walters was able to ensure that the Senior Day of Service has continued this year, with each senior spending a day at Focus: HOPE in Detroit to help pack boxes of food.
"Our seniors love their day at Focus: HOPE," said Mr. Walters. "They tend to be competitive, so there is always a little bit of a drive to put together more boxes than the other groups. Almost every group completes more than 1,000 boxes on a single day."
While the challenges will not go away any time soon, neither will our Shamrock servants!
