“200%, 200% of the time.” My soccer coach, coach Gene, said this almost every day. Everybody gives 100%, you need to give 200% to rise above.

What is your advice for an 8th grader who is unsure about attending Catholic Central?
CC is like a family. It’s a generic answer but it’s very true. The boys will always have your back. There’s no other school that I know of that has as much of a loving/caring environment from all grade levels. The upperclassman are there for you if you ever need help, and don’t be shy to ask them.

How did Catholic Central prepare you for the next level academically, athletically, and spiritually?
The Coaches here pushed me extremely hard and helped me become an overall better player. Aside from the skill sets they taught, they taught me to become a strong leader on and off the field. In the classroom the teachers believe in you and really help in any way they can. I’ve grown tremendously over the years as a student and athlete. I’m so thankful for the opportunity to be able to attend CC.

I was questionable about attending CC, but I’m very glad I did. The people you meet and the relationships that you form here are amazing. Over the years I’ve grown as a person, athlete, and student. I’ve met some of my best friends that I’ll talk to for the rest of my life. The teachers and coaches here are super passionate and do their jobs because they care. I’ve loved every moment at this school and they’ve prepared me to continue my athletic and academic career at the next level.

GPA: 3.75
College: Adrian College

How did Catholic Central prepare you for the next level academically, athletically, and spiritually?
CC kept me motivated, and strengthened me to do better when it counted. Having 7 tests in a day, a match later in the afternoon, and on top of that a marching band practice in the sun, was not an easy task. But the mental strength that comes from the school itself got me through it.

What is your advice for an 8th grader who is unsure about attending Catholic Central?
Research the school, shadow, at-least try a full semester. Coming into CC I didn’t know if I would like it or not, but after the first semester, it felt like home. My biggest advice is to allow yourself to be a part of the school, not to just go there to graduate.

How did Catholic Central prepare you for the next level academically, athletically, and spiritually?
CC taught me that not everything is going to be easy. I came in thinking I was going to go straight to the top, but I quickly realized that nothing would be given to me, and that I had to earn every single thing I wanted, whether that be on the field or in the classroom.

What is your advice for an 8th grader who is unsure about attending Catholic Central?
Take some time to think about it. CC is challenging for every student. If you are ready to challenge yourself, CC is the school for you. If you rise to the challenge, the rewards of going to CC greatly outweigh the challenges you’ll face.

How did Catholic Central prepare you for the next level academically, athletically, and spiritually?
CC is a difficult school at times, but it prepares you for the next next level in every way. The sports are top tier, the academics are top tier, as well as the community.

What is your advice for an 8th grader who is unsure about attending Catholic Central?
CC is like no other school. Like what school raises over $500,000 for tuition assistance and gives you days off for it. The academics prepare you for college and you won’t appreciate that until you are actually in college. The assemblies are insane. The sports are insane. CC is a must and you won’t regret it.

How did Catholic Central prepare you for the next level academically, athletically, and spiritually?
CC has prepared me academically by teaching me how to study. CC has prepared me athletically because our golf team is the best in the state. This challenged me to become a better golfer in order to be in the starting 5. CC prepared me spiritually by giving us theology class and providing retreats that we go on.

What is your advice for an 8th grader who is unsure about attending Catholic Central?
My advice would be that I have realized that there is no school like CC. The traditions that take place at CC are so special because the entire school is excited each time that they come around. Also, we learn a lot in school, but we have a lot of fun in school as well.

How did Catholic Central prepare you for the next level academically, athletically, and spiritually?
Catholic Central pushed me to be the man I dreamed of becoming. The spiritual guidance of the Basilian fathers, the brotherly love from Mr. Babicz, the dedication to education our teachers possess, the discipline Mr. Hancock and the administration instill in all of us, and the embodiment of brotherhood shown each and every day. These things are what prepared me to become a great man that will now make his next steps. There is no better place in the world to grow as a man and a disciple of God than Catholic Central.

What is your advice for an 8th grader who is unsure about attending Catholic Central?
My advice for a young man unsure of his decision to attend Detroit Catholic Central is to trust the process. No one says CC will be easy in any form whether athletically, academically, or etc. But if you trust the process, trust in the guidance of your mentors, and buy in to what is preached within those walls, you will have a path set in stone to success. Trust that if you go to Catholic Central, you will be great.
