Detroit CC Hires Familiar Face As New Head Bowling Coach

Novi, MI – On Monday, January 11th, 2021, Detroit Catholic Central High School named Ms. Laura (Zain) Kuchinski as Head Varsity Bowling Coach of the Shamrocks. Coach Kuchinski is a familiar face for Shamrocks, as she was the first head coach of the CC program.
Laura has years of experience in bowling, beginning at Woodland lanes at just 16 years old while focusing on the development of youth leagues and coaching junior bowlers.  After joining the Dick Ritger Academy and coaching around the country, Coach Kuchinski was asked to develop the bowling program for the Catholic Youth Organization and St. Michael School in Livonia, where she coached for over 10 years earning multiple honors and league championships.
Coach Kuchinski began the “club” program at Detroit Catholic Central in 1997 and took over as the head varsity coach in 1999, the program’s first year of MHSAA sponsored competition.   Building on that foundation, the Shamrocks went on to win the 2010 Division 1 State Championship.
We now welcome Laura back home to lead the Shamrocks, once again, as we look to her experience, faith, and discipline to help guide our young men in Goodness, Discipline, and Knowledge.  As a mentor and coach, she will undoubtedly lead our program into the future with nothing but the best intentions for our school, our community, and most importantly our Shamrocks.
Tryout information will be posted on the school website and will begin at Woodland Lanes on Saturday, January 16th.
“Teach Me Goodness, Discipline, and Knowledge” is the motto of the Basilian Fathers and the sacred mission of Catholic Central High School. For ninety years, the graduates of Catholic Central have made a positive impact locally, nationally, and around the world.
