Brendin Yatooma '20 presented with Whelan Award

Brendin Yatooma ’20 was presented with one of Catholic Central’s most prestigious honors, the Rev. James H. Whelan Award.
The Whelan Award, named in honor of Catholic Central’s fourth principal, Rev. James H. Whelan, C.S.B., is given annually to a senior who has excelled academically, is an outstanding athlete, and is looked upon by his peers as a Christian gentleman.
Brendin was a four-year member of the CC Football program where he was awarded three varsity letters, selected to serve as a senior captain, and earned All-Catholic and All-State honors. Brendin helped lead the Shamrock Football Team to three consecutive CHSL Central Division Championships. 

Brendin was also a four-year member of the Wrestling program where he was awarded four varsity letters, earned three All-State honors, and was selected to serve as a senior captain. Brendin helped lead the Shamrock Wrestling Team to four Division 1 State Championships, while also winning Individual State Championships in his junior and senior seasons. Additionally, he has been recognized as a USA Wrestling All-American.
Brendin maintained a 3.876 GPA and served as Senior Class President. He will be continuing his academic and athletic career on scholarship at the University of Michigan.
