On Wednesday, February 5, 2020 Ray '48 and Dick Herbert '53 visited Catholic Central.
The Herbert Boys, including their brother Don ‘47 who passed away in 2016, represent the legacy, tradition, and excellence of our student-athletes. Hard workers in the classroom and on the playing fields, they credit CC for a foundation in goodness, discipline and knowledge as well as a competitive spirit. All three Herbert Boys spent time at our Belmont Campus, with Dick making the transition to our 6565 West Outer Drive Campus.
Both Don and Ray had professional baseball careers within the Detroit Tigers organization, with Ray playing 14 years of Major League Baseball; including winning 20 games with the Chicago White Sox and being the winning pitcher of the second All-Star Game in 1962.
“Teach Me Goodness, Discipline, and Knowledge” is the motto of the Basilian Fathers and the sacred mission of Catholic Central High School. For ninety years, the graduates of Catholic Central have made a positive impact locally, nationally, and around the world.
