Michael Tartoni '20 Earns Recognition in Photo/Caption Contest

The Live It. Show It. Share It. Scholarship Contest was designed as part of the Alliance Catholic Credit Union sponsorship of the Catholic High School League. The contest was open to Catholic High School students and incoming freshmen.
To be eligible students were required to submit a 6-word story and one accompanying photo to the assignment: Tell us about a time in your life when your Faith had a meaningful impact. A 6-word story is a composition device challenging writers to provide breadth and depth in just a few words. The photo was included to add another element to help tell the story.

The students rose to the challenge! The contest had 274 qualifying entries from students attending over 50 schools across the Archdiocese of Detroit. Top prize winners included:
  • Emily Reece, Grand Prize ($6,000 scholarship)
  • Michael Acho Tartoni, 2nd Place ($4,500 scholarship)
  • Max Mader, 3rd Place ($2,500 scholarship)
Michael's winning submission was a black and white photo of hands with dirt on them, with the caption "Then God turned nothing, into everything."
