Thank you for your interest in Detroit Catholic Central High School.
To begin your exploration and application process, please follow the steps below.
Start by completing the Potential Student Form - it unlocks everything else, including Shadow Day registration.
Please note that the requirements outlined below serve as general guidelines. Final application decisions are made at the discretion of the Administration.

Application Process
9th Grade Applicants - Class of 2030
Admissions Update - Class of 2030
We are currently operating on a rolling cycle, with limited spots in the class of 2030 remaining.
Applications for the Class of 2030 opened on November 1, 2025.
Our priority deadline of December 12, 2025 has passed.
Families may still submit application materials. Applications completed after the priority deadline will be reviewed on a rolling basis, with decisions released on a staggered timeline, as determined by space availability.
As enrollment progresses, availability becomes more limited and the review process becomes increasingly competitive. Shadow Day opportunities and other experiences may be limited at this stage.
Admissions Expectations
No two Catholic Central students are alike, and that diversity of talent and background one of our greatest strengths as a community. While we review each applicant as an individual, successful candidates should demonstrate the following:
- A minimum of a 2.5 GPA
- A grade of C or better in all core academic subjects, including:
- English
- Math
- Social Studies
- Science
- Foreign Language
- Theology (for students currently attending Catholic schools)
- No history of expulsion or pending dismissal from their current school
- A strong disciplinary record, supported by positive conduct marks and teacher recommendations
- Consistent attendance
- Standardized test scores at or above grade level
Our goal is to enroll young men who are prepared to grow in Goodness, Discipline, and Knowledge, and who will contribute positively to the brotherhood they are joining.
Families with questions about space availability or next steps are encouraged to contact the Admissions Office directly.
The 9th Grade Application Process - Late Applicants
- Step 1: Potential Student Information Form
- Step 2: High School Placement Test
- Step 3: Application & Materials
- Step 4: Shadow Day & Interview
Step 1: Potential Student Information Form
Step 2: High School Placement Test
Previous test dates have taken place in November, December, January, and February.
Catholic Central utilizes the High School Placement Test for placement and academic scholarship qualification for all incoming 9th grade students.
Students do not need to test at Catholic Central, but must select Catholic Central to receive the scores (school code 015) or send us a score sheet.
Families must register through their parent/guardian myCC application checklist.
Step 3: Application & Materials
Application
- Applications are submitted online through a parent/guardian myCC account.
- Applications completed after that date will follow the rolling review timeline described above.
Teacher Recommendations
-
Catholic Central requires a teacher recommendation from a current core subject teacher (English, math, science, or social studies).
-
Recommendations are sent by the parents/guardians through myCC.
-
If your school district does not allow for teacher recommedation forms, contact the Admissions Office for an alternate recommendation form that should be sent to someone from a co-curricular activity that can speak to the student's special interests/talents.
Transcripts
- All applicants must request transcripts from their current school through their myCC account.
- Academic records should include 6th and 7th grade report cards, and current 8th grade marks.
Discipline Release
- Applicants must disclose any disciplinary history in their application, and submit a discipline release form to their previous school(s). This form is sent through myCC.
Essay
- Students will submit an essay through their application checklist in myCC.
- This essay is also part of the consideration for a Goodness, Discipline, and Knowledge Scholarship.
Step 4: Shadow Day & Interview
At this point in the admissions cycle, Shadow Day opportunities are limited, and only available for 8th grade students and potential transfer students who have submitted application materials.
- Our next round of on-campus visits for current 8th graders will take place March 3, 4, and 5, based on availability.
- Transfer student Shadow Days are expected to take place in April.
During a Shadow Day, students attend classes, interact with current students, and meet with an admissions representative to complete the interview portion of the application.
Shadow Day requests are scheduled through myCC, where families may request a specific host student, note academic interests, or share additional information to help us optimize the visit.
Shadowing students will check in at the main office between 7:30 and 7:45 AM, and will be ready for pickup by 1:30 PM.
Interviews
All applicants are required to complete an interview with an admissions representative. Most interviews take place during a Shadow Day. Online interviews are available on a limited basis to accommodate scheduling needs.
Campus Tours
A morning campus tour is included as part of each Shadow Day. Individual tours may be scheduled as availability allows and require submission of a Potential Student Information Form.
Transfer Applicants
Families interested in a transfer for the 2026 - 2027 school year are encouraged to begin the exploration process in late March to mid-April 2026.
At that stage, families are welcome to connect with the Admissions Office, submit a Potential Student Information Form, and schedule appropriate visits as availability allows.
Please note: Transfer applicants will not be able to complete the full application or receive an admissions decision until a final transcript from the current academic year is available and reviewed.
Transferring to Catholic Central can be an incredibly rewarding decision for a family. The process is more involved than it is for incoming 9th-grade students, but our team is happy to walk families through each step.

- Step 3: Application & Materials
- Step 4: Shadow Day & Interview
- Step 5: Course Selection
- Step 6: Enrollment
Step 1: Potential Student Information Form
The first step in applying for a transfer to Catholic Central is to submit Catholic Central's potential student information form.
Submitting this form does not "lock" you into anything. It allows prospective students to move forward in the application process and further explore our school.
Submit a potential transfer student information form online.
Step 2: Transfer Consultation Phone Call
After submitting a Potential Student Information Form, the next step is a transfer consultation phone call with someone in the admissions office. Our experience lets us quickly identify potential challenges and also lets us walk through some general questions you might have.
After the phone call, we'd move to follow the steps below and begin your transfer exploration.
Step 3: Application & Materials
Application
- You can submit an online application to Catholic Central through your myCC account. Login here in order to start or continue your application.
- For semester transfers, applications and supporting documents are due by the second Friday in December. This will allow time for us to make a decision and create a class schedule for January.
- For summer transfers we need to complete the process prior to the first Friday in August.
Transcripts
- Transfer applicants must submit unofficial transcripts as part of their application process. Final transcripts must be received prior to beginning class.
- Transfer applicants cannot be credit-deficient and must be on track to graduate with their class.
- Catholic Central does not facilitate credit recovery or reclassification.
Discipline Release
- Transfer candidates must present a clean disciplinary record and submit a discipline release form to their previous school(s). This form is sent through myCC.
Essay
- Transfer candidates must submit an essay through their application checklist explaining why they are interested in a transfer to Catholic Central. You will submit the essay through your checklist in myCC.
Financial Aid Application
- Need-based aid may be available for transfers, but priority is given to current families.
- Transfers are not eligible for merit scholarships.
Step 4: Shadow Day & Interview
Shadow Days
- After we verify that you are eligible for a transfer, we will work with you to schedule a Shadow Day.
- You can request a specific host or let us know what classes you wish to see to make sure we optimize your time on campus.
- Shadowing students will check in at the main office at 7:45 AM, and will be ready for pickup/dismissal by 1:40 PM.
Interviews
- All potential students must complete an interview with an admissions representative.
- Most students will complete this step during a Shadow Day, but we also offer online interviews to help with scheduling.
Campus Tours
- We offer a morning tour to start each Shadow Day, and ask families to make this their primary tour.
- If a conflict arises, you can contact admissions@catholiccentral.net or 248-596-3880 to request a personal tour.
