  • Temporary Summer Only Maintenance

    Detroit Catholic Central High School

    Job Title:Temporary Summer Only Maintenance  
    Location:Catholic Central High School
    Reports to: John Shinske, Facilities Director
    Classification:Temporary, Non-Exempt
    Hours:Monday – Friday, 6:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. (includes ½ hour unpaid lunch)
    Pay: $12.00 per hour
    Work Dates:Monday, June 10, 2019 – Friday, August 9, 2019 (9 weeks)

    Essential Job Functions:
    • Assist Maintenance Department employees with the following assignments which may include, but are not limited to:
      • cleaning windows, blinds, desks, chairs, equipment, etc.
      • washing/waxing/vacuuming floors
      • lawn maintenance and grounds clean-up
      • painting, including preparation of area
      • assisting with interior/exterior repairs
      • moving furniture and equipment

    Qualifications:
    • Must have a High School Diploma.
    • Must be at least 18 years of age and have a good driving record.   
    • Ability to work in an indoor and outdoor environment with physical activity involved, including lifting and carrying weighted items.  
    • Strong communications skills; able to communicate information clearly and in a timely fashion.
    • Ability to follow directions and seek clarification if needed.
    • Must be punctual.
    • Must take initiative and be responsible.
    • Proven time management skills and ability to consistently meet deadlines.   
    • Ability to establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships.

  • Student Summer Maintenance

    Location:Catholic Central High School
    Reports to: John Shinske, Facilities Director
    Classification:Temporary, Non-Exempt
    Hours:Monday – Thursday, 6:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. (includes ½ hour unpaid lunch)
    Pay: $9.45 per hour
    Work Dates:Monday, June 10, 2019 – Thursday, August 1, 2019 (eight weeks)

    Essential Job Functions:
    • Assist Maintenance Department employees with the following assignments which may include, but are not limited to:
      • cleaning windows, blinds, desks, chairs, equipment, etc.
      • washing/waxing/vacuuming floors
      • lawn maintenance and grounds clean-up
      • painting, including preparation of area
      • assisting with interior/exterior repairs
      • moving furniture and equipment

    Qualifications:
    • Must be a student of Catholic Central, enrolled for the current fall semester.   
    • Must be available to work a minimum 7 of the 8 working weeks.  Students enrolled in a summer skills course are ineligible for this position.  
    • Ability to work in an indoor and outdoor environment with physical activity involved, including lifting and carrying weighted items.  
    • Strong communications skills; able to communicate information clearly and in a timely fashion.
    • Ability to follow directions and seek clarification if needed.
    • Must be punctual.

    • Ability to establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships.

  • Bus Driver

    The Catholic Central High School of Detroit currently has a part-time position opening for a dependable bus driver.  Catholic Central is a 200,000 Sq. Ft. private educational facility on a 113 acre campus located in Novi, Michigan.  

    Essential Job Functions:
    Drive school bus to transport students and staff to athletic and school events.

    Responsibilities:
    • Transport students and staff in a safe and timely manner to events.
    • Fuel bus as required.  Sweep floors and clean windows.
    • Report any accidents, mechanical bus malfunctions or needed repairs to the Director of Facilities and Transportation or his designee.
    • Support and enforce all school policies and rules, safety regulations and guidelines.
    • Attend to emergencies when necessary.
    • Attend safety meetings and other related meetings.
    • Take classes as required in, First Aid,CPR and other classes relating to your job.
    • Perform related duties as assigned.
    Physical Demands 
    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and occasionally required to stand and walk.  The employee will frequently bend or twist at the neck and trunk, use hands and fingers to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms about the head and reach forward.  Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

    Qualifications
    • Must have a cell phone for communication.
    • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
    • Must have CDL B license with air brake endorsement and passenger and student endorsement.
    • Completed a Michigan school bus driver continuing education class preferred.
    • Current DOT medical card.
    • Must be willing to work day’s night’s weekends as needed. Flexible hours.
    • Must be able to pass criminal background check and drug testing.
    • Ability to work independently.   Must be available for emergency call-in.
    • Proven time management skills and ability to consistently meet deadlines.   Being punctual.
    • Ability to establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships.
    • Strong communications skills (written and verbal); able to communicate information clearly and in a timely fashion.
